East Kent MNDA provide mobility scooter for Cliftonville Man

Martin was diagnosed with?Motor Neurone Disease?2 years ago which turned our world upside down, Martin was a carpenter by trade and his work was very manual and hands on he stopped work after a few months as his hands were affected first.

We decided to take every day as it comes and have a very positive attitude and learn to live with this disease rather than let it take over our lives. Martin went to acupuncture which helped in the beginning of his diagnosis

The?MNDA helped with some of the treatments and this therapy helped his mental state and helped in dealing with his diagnosis. Martin remained active?in his activities last year he contined his hobbies of fishing which was like a meditation to him and had help from his friends at the fishery even entering matches. Sadly the fishing has slowed down a lot.

Martin still wants to go out so a mobility scooter seemed a fantastic idea.??Now when I go for a walk with our dog Tatty instead of sitting on a bench and waiting for us to come back he can now come with us. When we go to the shops instead of sitting in the car he now comes with me and we are able to do so many more activities together. It has given him more feedom and not isolated so he can continue to get out and be with his friends at the fishery and be with me when I go out with tatty for walks and the shops. I believe that the scooter has given him so much more freedom and independence and we both thank mnda for the funds for his scooter.

We will continue to be positive and try and live life as best we can

Thank you to all the people involved in getting Martin’s mobility scooter it has given him allot of freedom thankyou . Ela
