Thanks to Botany Bay Hotel

Huge thanks to the management and staff  at the Botany Bay Hotel for raising the sum of £1000 for MNDA East Kent.  This sum was raised from a football match, a quiz as well as counter collections

We would also like to thanks Shepherd Neame for their support and also for making the Botany Bay such a great place to visit and enjoy, especial thanks are due for accessibility to people with mobility problems.

Last but not least we thank all the customers of the Botany Bay Hotel whose generosity enabled this sum to be collected.

South Coast Trip – Blog Day 15 Truro

We left St Austell with a short walk up to the railway station to meet our bus for Truro. It was drizzling but thankfully did not turn into the downpour that looked likely.

We met with Hilary Fairfield and husband Mick for a delightful lunch.

After lunch we made our way on foot to Truro Cathedral where we had a guided tour arranged.? Our guide was both charming and very amusing.

We learned that the Cathedral was the last in Britain to be built traditionally, that is by hand, without any of the modern equipment that would be used today.

We also learned that the Cathedral had once been a wooden shed, during the period of construction.? No trace appears to remain of the shed but an earlier church which remains the local parish church is?an integral part of the Cathedral.

It transpires that the Festival of 9 Carols and Lessons was first held?in Truro Cathedral and the idea has been developed by other churches over time.

We were then treated to a Cream Tea in the company of Hilary, Mick and Chris and David from MNDA Cornwall.

Turner Contemporary Margate

From time to time we shall be suggesting places sea flood defence steps TDC-cropwhich are suitably equipped for persons living with MND.

Our first choice is the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate.? Set right on the sea overlooking Main Bay at Margate, it is a stunning place with great display spaces.

It exhibits a great variety of world class art, which changes every few weeks, so one can visit frequently and enjoy the different exhibitions.

There is an excellent restaurant and a lift for wheelchair users.? There are also 7 disabled parking bays for anyone with the need to use one.
